New Platform

I have a blog, really, who doesn’t. My blog is self hosted and running on Drupal. Which is great, but I feel like it is too hard to write posts. So I decided to try and move onto something a little more striped down. I like the idea of tumblr, but I don’t like how it is a hosted solution. Then that got me thinking, maybe there is self hosted solution. Sure I could take Drupal and make it work like tumblr, but that just won’t work for me.

Tired of Drupal

Drupal is great, it works incrediably well, and I would use it for a number of reasons. But I want something that is more striped down and designed with a different mindset. A mindset that is guided towards people without a ton of time. I also like the idea of choosing something that is a little more cutting edge, or at least, less well known. So I did some research and this is what I came up with:

  • Chryp looks pretty cool and striped down. I think it is more a framework then a CMS, but worth checking out
  • Gelato is recommended by the creator of wordpress for a tumblr like blog
  • Frog CMS looks good as it has built in markdown support.
