I have been using SXC.hu for a number of years, and it has been pretty good. However, it hasn’t changed much in the last few years. There isn’t a ton of new images and design is starting to get a little dated. A number of years ago it got bought out by a large stock photo company, and put ads of there and are using it to drive traffic to their site.
I had a conversation with a contributor of SXC.hu that told me about RGBStock which is a community based project that is providing images for free.
