Not only did we hike Mill Hill, we also made a video. This video is a bit more of a collaboration between Tanya and I. Tanya usually does the filming and editing, but this time I did most of the filming and some of the editing. It was fun, and I am hoping to make more videos in the future.
This video was taken with our DSLR and a less forgiving than an iPhone when taking shots. The video is a over exposed in some places, which gives it a warm feel, but we loose some of the image quality because of it. I will know this for next time.
Hope you enjoy it.
I had no idea that there was such a great view of Victoria from Langford.
We have been lucky to get such nice weather this late in October, and we wanted to take advantage of it (the rains could be here any day).
This was a great hike, pretty close to town and with a ton of trails and options. From here we could have taken a few different trails down, or we could have hiked to Thetis Lake. After living here for two years, I am amazed that we are able to find new places to check out.
At the top of Mill Hill, Oli was having fun checking out the surrounding. What a great day for a hike.
I never knew if this hike. It is pretty cool that you can see all of Victoria from here.
ictoria seems to have a vibrant taco culture. There are a number of taco stands, shops and restaurants scattered around the city all offering a slight different view in the food scene in Mexico. I love it, and they all seem to serve sustainable food as meat as well.
Yesterday we thought we would try Norte in Fernwood. Tanya looked on their Facebook page and saw that Sunday was there last day open for the season. They are only open for the summer months.
Norte is a small place, only enough room to order your food and add salsa, lime and cilantro to your food. The tacos were great. Both Tanya and I agree that the pork taco was the best. Looking forward till next summer when Tanya, Oliver and I can all get on the bikes and visit this place.
I think it is a dad thing, I love throwing Oliver up in the air and catching him. Oliver loves it.
Frequent visitors to this site might have. It has a few changes over the past few weeks. I have switched my blog platform and updated the design.
I have switched back to wordpress from the very obscure Chyrp platform. I was finding that Chyrp wasn’t meeting my needs. I wanted a little bit more from my blogging platform, including
- active development and mature API
- well writen and exhaustive documentation
- integration with mobile devices (for posting)
- could import most of my existing blog posts from wordpress.com
Wordpress isn’t perfect, but it has been helpful and I am glad I made the move. I could have gone with Drupal, but I tend to over engineer those sites and they become unwieldy when my requirements change (which happens often).
I have added a few new features to the site, in fact I am still working on it, so more features will be added in the future as well. Check then out
When I look back at the old posts from 2006, I see that a lot has changed in the last 7 years. I have been slowly picking away at the 150+ old posts and making then a little more modern. It is pretty neat to go back and review the old photos, it is like looking at an old journal or photo album.
I hope you enjoy the new look and feel.
It kind of looks like Oliver is a proud owner of a new car, and he is showing us what it is.
Pushing Oliver around on this toy (what do they call these things anyways). He loved it.
Fall is great, and with the leaves falling we decided to do a photoshoot with Oliver. He was pretty patient with us, and we got a few great photos. Here is one with him on the leaves.
